This basket is part of a new series of summer garden baskets that I am calling
All of the baskets in this series are on the smaller side and all of them feature an overhead grapevine handle. They sport the color changes reflected by fruit growing on the vine.
So, here is Bottle Gourd.
This size is a favorite for the wedding party's flower girl. It is also a great size for teacher, hostess, holiday or housewarming gift. The little tote style can hold a few bars of soap or a few home baked treats. It is also great for small storage in the bath or by the bed.
The small, urn shaped basket measures 5.5 inches wide at its opening and at its base.
It is fatter in the middle.
Its basin sits 7 inches tall.
Its colors are a combination of neutrals including cream, beige, white and tan.
The high overhead handle was crafted from locally harvested grapevine and has been accented with a couple faux vine leaves.
Including the handle height, it sits about 15 inches tall, overall.
I have photographed the baskets in the garden so you can more easily gauge the size.

Planned baskets include:
Crown of Thorns Gourd
I use the basketry method known as coiling to create my baskets.
Strips of fabric (both new and recycled) are wrapped around an inner cording as the shape is formed. The inner cording makes these baskets sturdier than other fabric, felted or crocheted items. Each one is unique. They are entirely handmade with no machine stitching.
