This 1950s Catalina sarong style swimsuit is made from a faux-batik geometric print cotton fabric in blues and purple. It has a draped bodice and an asymmetrical upswept skirt with boy short legs. The back is smocked with elastic. The bust has lined, boned cups and the button straps are adjustable with three buttonholes in the back. I’ve photographed them buttoned straight back, but they could probably also be worn criss-crossed in the back. The suit front is lined in white cotton.

Tag reads 16/38.

Measurements, taken flat:
Bust: 14”
Waist: 12”
Hips: 17”
Length (top of bust to crotch): 26”
Note: This is a cotton fabric. The fabric itself does not stretch; however, the whole back has been smocked with elastic, so it has significant stretch. The front does not stretch at all.

For reference:
The mannequin’s measurements are 34-22-34. The suit fits as shown; it’s not pinned or otherwise altered to fit the mannequin. My measurements are 36”-28”-38” (34DD cups). This suit is a little big on me, although the cups fit.

I don’t accept returns for fit issues, so be sure to compare these measurements to your own garments before purchasing. If you need additional measurements, just convo me.

This suit is in very good vintage condition. There are a few places on the inside back where the elastic has pulled loose from the side seams. It’s only loose for a few stitches on the edge, so the suit still stretches and it does not affect the fit. It’s not obvious on the outside of the suit, but it might be a good idea to secure these loose ends to prevent them from pulling out any more. I’ve shown this in the last photo. The straps have been shortened in the front but the extra parts of the straps were not cut off, so they can be easily restored to their original length by removing a few stitches on each side. The elastic on the legs is a little stretched out in the front, but the backs are still stretchy. Otherwise, I can find no problems.
