'SKILLS LEVEL: Early Intermediate onwards. You will need to be able to control the heat and fuel levels of a dual fuel torch, and to encase a bead with clear glass.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a tutorial for beginners to Lampworking, but for those of you who have good lampworking skills but not much experience of this very difficult glass.

I fell in love with silver glass very early on in my lampworking career and spent many hours on the torch and wasted many rods of expensive glass trying in vain to get that glorious flash of opalescent colour. Sometimes it just happened, and I was over the moon, thinking that at last I had ‘got’ it, and then what followed would be more milky brown beads all looking much the same.
Eventually by trial and error I have managed to identify the key problems, and have been encouraged to write this tutorial to help others to have more success in the early stages than I had. Silver glass is such a joy to work with and so baffling and exasperating at first that it deserves some explanation of the basic guidelines.

I show how to use the flame to get the right amount of reduction, and detailed steps for making eight beads in total in three different Double Helix Glasses: Triton, Helios and Clio.

The tutorial is easy to follow, and should enable anyone to successfully use silver glass in their beadmaking. I won't say I guarantee results....that would be foolish....but I will be very surprised if you don't make some splendid beads!

This is the review that one of my customers wrote after using the tutorial....needless to say I was thrilled to read it:
'Great resource for beginners trying to learn the whims of silver glass. Clear instructions, clear, uncluttered photos, simple beads, but with such lovely results. She sticks to basic beads and three kinds of silver glass - Double Helix Triton, Cleo & Helios. I liked that the author didn't impose her own style, or expect you to master elaborate, fussy, techniques on huge intricate focals. It's all about the silver glass properties, and she gives you enough basic experience to take it whatever direction your individual taste and skills lead you. I've purchased 5 or 6 different tutorials on silver glass, and this is by far my favorite!'
