Binghamite (silk stone and cuyunite) is from the Cuyuna Iron Range, Crosby, Crow Wing County, Minnesota. This stone was named after William Bingham who discovered it in 1936. It is a variety of quartz with interstitial fibers of goethite and hematite. This piece came to us in the rough from the Doc. Patterson Collection. The fibers in this stone offer up the enchanting chatoyance of yellow and red which compares to Pietersite.

Binghamite is said to bring good luck and good fortune.
