This antique slate had a red side and I thought it was calling out for a painting of a Father Christmas. The watercolor is actually painted on 75 year old paper that is attached to the slate. Santa is holding a feather tree in one hand and a bag of toys in the other. There is a dove perched in an evergreen tree looking down at St. Nick. In the coner of the night sky is a full moon. The outside dimension of the slate is 6 1/2 inches by 8 1/2 inches. I made a twig easel for the painting to sit on. It stands 11 inches on the easel.
