This is an absolutely gorgeous and very high quality ring set from 1921...I absolutely love to find pieces that still have their hand engraved dates...especially a set that has such very high quality diamonds along with the elegant style of the 1920's.....please note the diamonds are much more white and fiery than I could capture in my photos!

Both rings are crafted of solid platinum and feature both round and tapered baguette diamonds of very fine color and clarity. The engagement ring has a wonderful prong-set old mine cut center diamond that measures approximately 4.8 mm in diameter and is estimated to be approximately .48 carats or so. (perhaps closer to .50 carats..these older cuts often weigh more) It is extremely fiery and bright...I would judge the color to be in the G-H range of near-colorless. It is completely eye-clean and I can't see any inclusions under my loupe...it is absolutley lovely and has no nicks, chips or scratches that I can see. All the prongs are newly tipped so the diamond is completely secure, as well.

On either side of the central diamond are beautiful channel-set, very clean tapered baguette diamonds and small full cut round diamonds at the outside of the face of the ring. (so, there are 5 diamonds total in the engagement ring) The baguettes are each approximately 2.5 x 4 x 1 mm and the small round diamonds are each approximately 1 mm. Again, I would judge the color to be in the G-H range and I don't see any inclusions....I love to see baguettes like these that look as clean as water - just beautiful! I've had all the settings checked by my jeweler so all stones are secure.

The face of the ring is approximately 5 x 17mm and the rise off the finger is approximately 5.1 mm.

The inside of the band is marked for iridium platinum which is a premium alloy used predominantly during this era. Iridium is a member of the precious platinum family and was added to platinum to make it stronger, harder and to add whiteness of color. It is only used by a handful of high end makers today because of it's high cost....I am always pleased to find pieces in this alloy, because they tend to stand the test of time so well. Both the engagement ring and wedding band are also marked with matching style numbers of "187." The engagement ring alone weighs 4.55 grams and the set with both rings weighs a total of 8.50 grams.

Both the engagement and wedding ring are just over a size 6.5 on my mandrel, and could be sized by an experienced jeweler who is comfortable working with platinum and older rings. ** Please read my policies page for more information regarding sizing or feel free to contact me to discuss it or to obtain a quote from my trusted jeweler.

The matching wedding band features 7 channel-set diamonds....there are three round full cut diamonds in the center, with a tapered baguette to each side, and again a small round diamond at the very edge of the shoulder on both sides. The three center diamonds are each approximately 2 mm in diameter, the baguettes are each approximately 2 x 3 x1 mm and the small diamonds are each approximately 1 mm in diameter. The fine color and clarity matches that of the engagement ring...and the only condition issue to note is that one of the baguettes in the band has a chip in one corner, closes to the central diamonds. It can be seen through my loupe and if you know where to look and turn the ring to catch the light in just a certain way, you may be able to see it with your naked eye. I've been trying to photograph it and will continue to try to get a good shot....it's hard to capture with my camera as the diamonds are so bright and fiery. I have had my jeweler check the settings in the band, as well, and he tightened the setting of the baguette with the chip to make sure it would stay secure.

The face of the wedding band measures approximately 3.2 x 16 mm and the rise off the finger is approximately 3.8 mm....it looks perfect with the matching engaqagement ring!

In addition the the iridium platinum and style number marks, the inside still has the wonderful old hand engraving that reads "A.B.M. to M.D.H. 4-19-21." The weight of the wedding band alone is 3.95 grams. The total carat weight for the set is estimated to be approximately 1.27 carats or so....this was calculated by formula, as the stones were not removed from their mountings....so thre is a little room for variability up or down. Other than the small chip mentioned, the rings are in really wonderful condition!

This is a wonderful true Art Deco set...graceful, elegant and high quality...ready for it's new history to begin....

Please convo with questions and Thanks for looking!
