vintage French enamelware canisters, set of 2, Café and Poivre, reddish brown with white
- - - - - - - -
I was told that these two gorgeous enamelware canisters are from Fesches le Chatel, a small French town near the Swiss border, and are believed to be from the Japy-Frères maker, although they are not marked.

Both are in excellent vintage condition with just a few minor chips (bottom of Poivre and knob of Café and along the rim, not really noticeable when lid is in place). The inside of the Café canister is almost pristine while there is just one chip/rust spot in the Poivre.

They're a reddish brown color with thickly enameled white lettering and bands that are joined by thin gold pin stripes above and below (gold is mostly still very shiny, although it has rubbed off in a few spots).

Café = 6.5" tall x 3.875" diameter
Poivre = 5" tall x 2.875" diameter

Would look great in a cottage kitchen but also works great as a storage container on your desk or in the bathroom. Perfect gift for a Francophile or coffee lover!
