This wonderful set of 29 individual antique drill bits include some unusual pieces, such as a countersink snail bit, twisted flutes, a turnscrew bit, twist or auger ... and many others, many with square heads.

They are all stored in their original, special purpose canvas roll-up bag. The bag has a flap stitched top and bottom to protect the ends of each bit and a leather strap running through the centre which is stitched at intervals to separate individual bits from rubbing against one another. When rolled-up, the bag is secured with a thin piece of leather which has been lengthened, at some point, by the addition of a shoe lace.

This lovely piece belonged to one of great, great uncles who was employed at the iconic Islington Railway Workshops in Adelaide, South Australia in the early 1900s.

When open the bag measures approx 67 cm (26.5 inches) by 20 cm (8 inches); closed it is approx 7.5 cm (3 inches) in diameter; and it weighs 1320 grams (2 lbs 2 oz).

This fabulous set would make a superb gift for anyone with a keen interest in woodworking, carpentry or joinery ... either to add to their own existing collection of antique and vintage tools or to begin one.

It would also be fantastic for industrial decor, an art display or vintage prop.
