This little book is a trasure trove for a fashion or costume designer or simply anyone who wants to learn to sew better. In addition to being a delightful slice of fashion history, the book's practical, completely illustrated how-to's include detailed information on pattern alteration, textile basics, stitches, and construction. Although technology has changed (check out the chapter "The Home Sewer's Workshop" for a glimpse of how women worked then), basic excellent construction techniques often have not, and much of this book is still highly useful.

The close-up illustrations of construction techniques are clear and helpful, and the flapper-style women are simply charming. The pages are in excellent vintage shape, with some yellowing and a few small dog ears, but no writing or marking. The cover is in fair condition, with edge wear, some blue marking/staining, and some tearing at the bottom of the spine (see photo). However, the cover is sturdy and all the pages are firmly attached. It is 5" x7.5", 181 pages.

A real find for collectors of vintage design books, fashion historians, costumers, or just those who want to develop their sewing skills! Free shipping in the US and Canada, low shipping everywhere else.
