I love running across industrial looking pieces like this old dark room timer. They are such fun for making a bold decorating statement. And, to make things even better, this one works!! WARNING- It has an alarm on it that, seriously, would bring the cows in!

If I'd had this when my kids were little, it would have been a blast! Aside from all the obvious math learning opportunities, just think...how useful for illustrating the following--- 'How much longer before we can have a snack?' Or 'When can I have a turn on the skateboard? Or..how about..."When this timer goes off, your bedroom had better be clean, understand?!"

AND!!!!!....wait for it.....- You Could Set It For TIME-OUT!!!!
This is a sixty minute timer, so you could even call for 3 minute bouts at your next neighborhood boxing match, or time the number of paddle-ball bounces you can do in 5 minutes! Just think of it!!

The GraLab Universal Timer is enclosed in a metal case, which measures 8 1/2 inches square.
Its sides are 3 inches deep with the cord on the right side. For what it's worth, it carries 125Volts, 750Watts, 6Amps, 3 Amps 'T'. It has two plugs on the left side that can be seen in photo #3. On the top surface is the carrying handle, and beneath that is the toggle switch that turns on the Alaaaarrmm! On the timer's face are two toggles; one to open and close the outlet plug, and the other to turn the timer on/off. The metal case is flat black. There are two very small spots of rust on the right side and a few scratches here and there, but nothing that detracts from the overall coolness of the piece.

And, of course, to the person with a home darkroom or lab; I'm jus sayin.. this one is bitchen!

It was made by DIMCO-GRAY CO, in Dayton, Ohio. A company that continues to this day making quality products like GraLab Electromechanical and Electric Timers. DimcoGray, is a widely-recognized plastic knob manufacturer and leading supplier of knobs and handles, with a huge inventory of equipment handles.
