Small things take time
they twist into fragments
which hang like strands of DNA
impossible uncoded strips that thread the days
between the cut glass black jet nights
to form a kind of necklace
(Small Things Take Time, Susan Wallbank)

First in a series of three pieces inspired by the poem by Susan Wallbank. Life represented in small things - individually insignificant but together they create a rich patina, a narrative of experience - worn but still beautiful. A tea-strainer aged and adorned with silk ribbon and an incomplete diamante buckle. Silk ribbon and a brass chain complete the story.

Around 22 inches (56cm) end to end
