Thank you to Judy Carlson, a gifted instructor, for the technical advice that gave way to my newest creations.

Inspired by my beautifully carved African masks, this lampwork bead is made with black 'Nebula' glass. When worked in a reducing flame, this glass becomes a iridescent, matted gun metal color. The headdress of this mask was created with striking red/orange glass. Her sleepy eyes and full lips defer to a serene, mystical way of life.

The hole runs vertically. The back is flat with a spiral design.

It is about 1 5/8 inches tall and approx. 1 1/4 inch wide. (Fifth picture shows the size.) Made on a 3/32 mandrel, I include a piece of tiny hollow tubing that fits perfectly inside the hole. This prevents any wobble when mounted on a headpin.
