A cute little dress from the 50's with a soft print of lavender and gray flowers, with short sleeves, a tailored bodice, and a gathered skirt. There are no tags- the fabric is fairly lightweight and feels like a cotton blend. Metal zipper in back. In very good vintage condition- I made one repair to the seam under one are, and it shouldn't be a problem. This dress is either and extra small petite or an adolescent size. For reference my mannequin's measurements are 33-25-34, and the dress was a bit too tight. Flat lay measurements in inches are:

bust: 16.5
waist: 13
hip: free
bodice length: 14
total length: 35.5

Frequently asked questions about ReluctantDamsel

Some vintage items have a marked sizes but vintage sizes are very different from modern ones. I will usually estimate the modern size but this should be used as a guide only.

The only way to determine the size and fit of vintage clothing is to use the measurements provided in the listing. You can compare them to your own measurements- if the fabric is not stretchy remember to add an inch or two for comfort. Even better is to compare the measurements of the garment to well-fitting garment of your own that is similar in cut and fabric. Remember to use a flexible tape measure when taking your measurements! I'll be happy to answer questions and provide additional measurements but I can't guarantee the fit of any item.
Most of my listings give a suggested size- but you MUST use the measurements for a good fit! Vintage sizes run small and vintage clothing is cut differently- e.g. 50s dresses tend to be smaller in the waist. Don't go by tag size or my suggested size- everyone is different, so please always use the measurements, which are given in inches and taken as follows unless noted:

shoulder: seam to seam
bust: across the armpits
waist: narrowest part/natural waist
hip: fullest part: 9-10" below natural waist
length: shoulder to hem (dresses, tops, coats)
rise: waist to crotch with front and back waistband lined up (pants,
shorts)
inseam: from crotch to cuff (pants, shorts, rompers)

No guarantees on fit or size.
I will mark an item as reserved for you for up to one week, if you are sure about the purchase. I may refuse to hold any item, especially if it's a brand new listing. Please convo me to request a reserve. I do not accept trades.
US ORDERS: Are shipped within 2 business days of purchase, which does not include Saturday and Sunday, and it will take an additional 2-5 days to be delivered. ORDERS FROM OUTSIDE THE US: Will ship within 2 business days of purchase and take another 1-3 weeks to arrive (on average, and can take longer). No guarantees on delivery dates for any standard shipping method.

RUSH ORDERS (US only): For the fastest service please send a separate convo if you have a rush order! I don't always see that "note to seller" filled out during checkout. Usually a shipping upgrade isn't needed, I just ship it right away via 2 day Priority. For next day delivery please contact me- prices start at $22, and shipping upgrade costs are non-refundable.
I sell only vintage clothing that is at least 20 years old, and can't provide multiples or variations of any item. I have only the unique item pictured and described in each listing!
All items in my shop are vintage and pre-owned, but always wearable. Small signs of wear are considered normal and can include light overalls fading, faint discoloration for instance at the shoulders or cuffs, or tiny spots- anything more noticeable with be mentioned in the description. Additionally vintage clothing sometimes picks up a light odor from being stored for many years, which can intensify while your item is wrapped in a plastic bag for shipping- you may decide to air your garment for a day or two before wearing. Most items are shipped in soft envelopes rather than boxes and may become wrinkled during shipping. Always convo me with questions about condition or anything else!
Please treat vintage clothing with gentle care! The best cleaning method depends on the fabric, condition, and age of the item. Some vintage items should never get wet, even to spot treat, while others can be safely hand washed or even machine washed on a gently cycle. Dry cleaning is safe for many vintage garments. Convo me for information on any specific item and I'll be happy to offer advice, but I can't guarantee the safety or effectiveness of any cleaning method.
Customs fees or VAT charges/taxes are NOT included in the shipping price and will be added once the item arrives in the country of destination. Expect to pay an additional fee at your customs office once your order arrives.

All purchased items will be marked as "merchandise" on the customs form, and the declared value will be the purchase price (but not shipping). I do not change this information to help buyers avoid paying a fee- I'm sorry about that! Just know that chances are you WILL be charged a VAT once the item arrives and figure that cost into your shopping budget.

Information on VAT taxes or customs fees can be found online- look for the official website of the postal service of your country for more information.
All US orders are shipped with insurance, as are most international orders (availability and terms vary depending on your location- please contact me for details). If an item is lost or damaged in the mail please contact me right away and be sure to keep the package in tact just as you received it, packing materials and all. I will file a claim with the insurance carrier and issue a refund when the claim is settled. I will not provide a refund, store credit, or replacement items in the event an insurance claim is denied. Insurance claims will usually be denied if an order is lost after being marked as "delivered" or if the shipping address provided at the time of purchase is incorrect.
Please read the full description, check measurements, & ask questions before purchase! I'm happy to accept returns BUT the buyer always pays return shipping which can get expensive, especially for heavier items and/or if you live outside the US.

Buyers must follow my return policy in order to be eligible for a full refund. Items must be unworn, in their original condition, & carefully packaged to avoid damage in transit, otherwise refund amount will be lowered.

Items returned to me by a postal service or customs office (rather than the buyer) due to incorrect address, failure to claim package, or failure to pay VAT fees or other taxes are not eligible for a full refund. The refund amount (if any) will be determined case by case.
