Set of five vintage French aluminum kitchen canisters dating from the 1930s, and featuring SUCRE (sugar), CHICORÉE (chicory), THÉ (tea), ÉPICES (spices) and POIVRE (pepper) in riveted copper tags. Rather stout, these canisters range from 5½” to 3¼” tall (with lids) and from 4¼” to 2½” in diameter. Their bodies and lids are nicely shaped and enhanced by ridges. The undersides are trademark etched “Déposé – Gratieux – Paris”, from the “Etablissements Ferdinand Gratieux”, a once-renowned kitchenware and aluminum toy maker located along the Seine river until 1940, on the Seguin Island… near the enamelware manufacturer “G.O. Emaillerie Parisienne”!

As shown in photos, this ensemble is in excellent condition with minimal wear earned with age and usage. Despite some slight discoloration here and there, the interiors are very clean, making the set still perfectly usable.

With their lovely design and nicely preserved condition, these canisters will lend a wonderful touch of French country charm to any décor. Note that the copper tags have slide-in facilities, allowing you to display labels of your own if wished.
