This colorful and charming vintage pitcher, made in Japan in about the 1940s to 1950s, is hand painted in bright yellow with green stripes in a windowpane design and with white, black, and red flowers. The pitcher has a lid with a green knob and odd shape to cover the spout. It has an unidentified mark on the bottom with a cherry blossom surrounded by Made in Japan.

The pitcher is in pretty good condition, with no chips but two hairline cracks; one is about 1 1/2 inches long, to the right of the handle (see picture), and the other is on the top portion of the handle, visible mostly on the underside. Neither crack seems to affect the integrity of the piece. The colors are still incredibly bright. There are a few small spots of no color--possibly flea bits, though they look like manufacturing issues. There's some crackle to the glaze visible inside and on the bottom.

Size: 9 inches tall x 6 1/2 inches from spout to edge of handle (20.8 x 16.5 cm)
