By far the most important amulet in ancient Egypt was the scarab. Scarabs are associated with the Egyptian god, Khepri. It was Khepri that pushed the sun across the sky. The scarab beetle became an ancient Egyptian symbol for rebirth, the ability to be reborn. Each day the sun disappeared, always to rise again and be reborn the following day.

The god Khepri, which literally means "He who is Coming into Being", was a creator god and a solar deity. He was represented as a scarab or dung beetle, or as a man with a beetle head. The scarab beetle was observed to roll it's eggs in a ball of dung along the ground, and the ball was identified with the sun. The baby beetles were seen to emerge from the primeval mound and so dung beetles were thought capable of spontaneous creation.

Red was a powerful color because of its association with blood, in particular the protective power of the blood of Isis.

However, the colour red also represented anger, chaos and fire and was closely associated with Set, the unpredictable god of storms and Sekhmet, "Lady of the Flame". Set had red hair, and people with red hair were thought to be connected to him. As a result, the Egyptians described a person in a fit of rage as having a "red heart" or as being "red upon" the thing that made them angry.

Jasper is known as the “supreme nurturer.” It helps remind its bearer that they are here on this plane for more than just themselves. They are here also to bring joy and peace to others. The gem lets its wearer accept and revel in being alone. The physical, emotional, and intellectual selves are balanced by jasper. It enhances mental functioning while steering the mind away from harmful thoughts.

Red Jasper assists in rectifying unjust circumstances, and meditation with this jasper can provide one with methods of amelioration. Red Jasper assists in recalling dreams of pertinence to one’s life during meditation. It shows the user choices and responsibility. Red Jasper is also helpful in escapes from dangerous situations and prevents “set-back” disorders.
