This is a collection of large flat ice blue sea glass! Most are frosted but not thoroughly rounded; there are shiny nicks on each piece. All of these were found on the beaches of Monterey Bay. Sizes range approximately average 2 inches long, 1 1/2 to 1 3/4" wide, and 1/8" thick. Great for those who are sea glass painters.

♥History:

Monterey Peninsula beaches have an interesting and colorful history, from pirate pillages in the 1800’s (one beach was named “the Beach of Insurgents”) to the fishing, whaling, and canning industry in the 1900’s, to marine biological research in the mid-1900’s. It was Monterey where Spanish ships brought Franciscan Friar Junipero Serra to the area to establish one of the first Californian pueblos in June, 1770, and later, Monterey was the original location of the state capital. Nobel Prize winner, John Steinbeck, used the location and lives of those he knew in Monterey, to write Cannery Row, Tortilla Flat, and Sweet Thursday. He referred to Monterey Peninsula as “the circle of enchantment.”
