This delightful wall hanging is a great way to keep a little spring in your home during the upcoming winter months. I made this from an old phone book with a little help from my imagination, trusty glue gun, a bottle cap, and some paint.

This one's double petals were painted purple with pink overlay. I painted a bottle cap pink for the center and finished it with a ribbon to hang it from. These are great décor for a kid’s room or dorm room. This is not a toy! It is for decoration only.

It has a 6 ¾ inch diameter and is 1 inch thick.

Quantity Discount is available if you would like to order a custom set. Convo me and let me know what you are looking for (how many flowers, how many petals, colors, etc) and I will give you a quote. If you include your state I can also give you a shipping quote. Thanks!

Shipping Discount: If you order multiple flowers I will pack them in one box. Convo me for a shipping quote. :-)

My inspiration for these is the loss of 19 million trees every year for U.S. phone book distribution. More below if you are interested but if you are tired of getting so many phone books every year here are some links for you:

My Story of Inspiration:

These delightful pieces were inspired by a little frustration…ok, maybe I was a little bit mad! I was peacefully walking to the mailbox not bothering a soul, not even the bugs. When all of a sudden it was there and it was terrifying! Yep, ANOTHER phone book lying on the ground in front of our mailbox. I screamed in horror! We have received eight this year!!! Do I really need phone books for three counties from several different phone companies? NO! I barely use one, let alone eight!!! I was so frustrated and complained and grumbled a lot for the next couple of days.

I started doing some research and found that there are half a billion phone books distributed in the United States every year, to the tune of 19 million trees! Only 10% are recycled and they make up 5% of landfills! Now I was MAD! These should be a request only item. Many Americans use the internet or their smart phones to look up phone numbers and businesses these days. Now, I am old school and still like access to a local phone book now and then (and by local I mean the county I live in, not all the surrounding counties too!). However, I DON’T need eight every year!

So, after all this complaining and grumbling I sat down and tried to figure out some uses for these phone books. Here are some ideas I came up with:
• Shred them and use as packing material or garden mulch.
• Use them as window/glass wipes, works just like newspaper…no streaks!!
• They make good fire starters.
• When I was a kid and too short to sit at the table my mom would plop me on top of a stack of phone books in the chair. I have no need for a booster seat but some of you other crafty people may be able to fancy them up a bit with some material or something. Maybe add a little padding around the edges?

And of course I had to find something fun to do with them too. Phone Book Flowers! Yay! Enjoy!
