This is a very lovely and intricate silverplated Karess Woodworth powder and rouge compact from the 1920's.

This compact was invented by Anker S. Lyhne who was better known for inventing the Lyhne Lamp in the 20's. He filed his patent for this compact on July 19. 1922, but he had to wait 4 years the patent was finally issued on January 19. 1926.

The piece features an embossed flower and scroll motif on the top and bottom.

A swing clasp opens to reveal a gorgeous floral and scroll decorated lid with a mirror on the back that covers the rouge and rouge puff compartments, as well as the powder compartment in the bottom of the case.

On the other side of the flip up piece is a glass mirror that is in excellent condition, with no damage.

The piece is hallmarked around the edge of the metal inset surrounding the two rouge pots with "Karess", "New York Paris", as well as "Woodworth".

The compact measures 2 1/8 inches in length by 1 3/4 inches in width closed.

The piece is in excellent condition and is shiny and clean.

I've been made aware that as a customer you may see an Etsy message in my listings that states that I do not ship to your country. That statement is false. I DO SHIP INTERNATIONALLY! Please contact me for a shipping quote if that statement appears in a listing you may wish to purchase. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you when trying to make a purchase, but it is an Etsy glitch.
