Vintage photograph of Dorothy Bourne Pierson taken in Washington DC
while in college 1906
the photo measures 6" x 4" and is mounted in a photo folder that has Harris & Ewing Washington DC printed on it below the picture, and on the front of the folder as well. The back of the photo reads Dorothy Bourne Pierson when in Washington DC 1906. When in College

We will be posting many pictures of Dorothy throughout her life
(my avatar is of Dorothy in 1912).
We hear she was adored by all of the family
and sadly, she passed away in her early 20s from the 1918-1920 flu
pandemic that killed an estimate 50 million to 100 million people
around the world.
Please converse with me before purchasing if you have any questions.

**picture of the man is not included in this sale...picture of Theo
My Husband's Mother visitted last November and brought us a trunk of old family items. She learned that we love old photos and thought we may have fun going through the trunk before she threw everything away. Little did we all know the journey that would unfold upon the opening of Theodore Bourne's Trunk and the new found pride my Husband would have about his heritage.

Theodore Bourne was the son of George Bourne who was a 19th-century American abolitionist and editor credited as the first public proclaimer of "immediate emancipation without compensation" of American slaves, source Wikipedia

In Theo's trunk we found letters between many abolitionists, newspaper articles regarding abolitionists movement, photo alblums, loose photos and poetry, the journey has been amazing. Many items will be donated to various museums, the rest of our new found articles of history, we would like to share and are now being offered here, welcome and enjoy!
