A very elegant accessory, this tie tack is super smart.

The Steampunk inspired tie tack is created using a 17 jewel vintage Gruen watch movement as a focal - this is a design from a series known as the 'Gruen Veri-Thin' and is much sought after by collectors worldwide. The intriguing little mechanism is a rounded rectangle, .5 x .6 inch in size (13 x 15mm) in polished steel with lots of gold engraved wording and original rubies taking centre stage above delicate brass cogs and wheels.

The serial number on this mechanism is not traceable but given the size, this one was made in the 1940s when extra tiny women's watches were popular - at least 65 years old and still lovely!

The tie tack has a squeeze closure which is very secure and easy to use and also looks great on a jacket lapel.

A gentleman's accessory not often worn now, the tie tack or tie pin was popular in eras past. A very practical invention, it prevents the tie flying in the wearer's face in a breeze. The focal is a pin that passes through the tie, then the closure attaches to the back of the pin and tie. The bar attached to the chain then goes through a buttonhole behind the tie. Simple, very effective and superbly elegant.

Your purchase will be delivered to the you in a handmade ClosetGothic black felt envelope.

NOTE: to guide with sizing, the tie in photo 2 is 1.5 inches or 37mm wide.
