Soft sculpture Toadstool.
These fungus pieces are new for me and I have to say I have been slightly obsessed with them!
I have locked myself away for ages getting this little collection done.
These little fellows are all made from new and rescued cottons, velvets, bits of silk and anything with a fungal type texture so some of them are made with the reverse of fabrics for textural interest.
They are all covered in tiny hand stitched details and have tiny frayed ruffs around their necks.
Many, many hours are spent pleating and sewing the gills on the underside by hand and I really love this effect.
I wanted to make nice and firm toadstools so these are have stems and caps which are reinforced with steel wire and up cycled steel pieces.
They can be gently posed and hold their position beautifully.
They look great lent against an empty window, in a old jam jar on a fireplace or lying down on top of a stack of books-they look really fab almost anywhere.
You can also simply loop some thread under the neck and hang them on the wall quite easily and this gives them a completely different atmosphere.
A New Victorian kind of edge.

Each one comes out almost as a little character in its own right which wasn't something I had realised until I began making them.
The cap becomes the head ,the stalk the body and the frill is a tiny frayed scarf complete with tiny pearly button.
They have a quiet gentle presence.
Each toadstool is hand inked stained with teas, coffees making each almost look like a museum exhibit.

The ones that are attached to a base stand upright and again really look very scientific and fairytale like.
These metal bases are up cycled vintage silverware lids from many years ago.
Some are tarnished some are quite shiny.
Many flaws and odd stitching must be expected and is very much celebrated.
Pieces are often heavily stained and frayed but all are made with a lot of love and care and are totally unique.

This toadstool is approx Height...42cm

These measurements will include the base if it has one.

Please note- On the toadstools with very long stems they will be gently curved around to make packaging easier and postage cheaper for you.
Once unwrapped you can quickly and easily bend your fungus into position.
The stems are thick steel wire so this will not harm the piece.
If you are not happy with this please do-not purchase.

Nothing I make is designed to be given to a child/baby as they are delicate and are for decorative purposes only.

The Toadstool in the pictures is the exact one that you will receive.
This listing is for ONE toadstool only,no photographic props are included.

Please read my terms and conditions before making a purchase.
Thank you for taking the time to read my listing!
