For the longest, I have had a design in the back of my head that combines floor tile with small tables. Well, I've finally completed one and I'm proud of it! It took quite a bit of thought to design this table for shipping, easy assembly, ruggedness, and beauty. The table is made out of mostly solid 3/4" red oak hardwood. It also has solid pecan (drawer parts) and a few pieces of birch cabinet grade 1/2" plywood (not normally visible). This table is built to last under normal operating conditions.

The most apparent feature of this table is that the tile used for the top can be removed and replaced with a different one giving a totally new look (see photo)! It comes with the tile shown and is only held in place with a couple dabs of silicone. The silicone bond can easily be broken by pushing up on the tile from the bottom through two finger holes as shown. The tile is 16" by 16" (15 3/4" x 15 3/4" and 3/8" thick) which is a standard size for floor tile. Any floor tile this size can be put in its place. Cool huh?

The table will arrive in four parts: the body, right leg assembly, left leg assembly, and drawer (see photo). The two leg assemblies can be attached to the inside of the body by four screws each - easily done with a standard Phillips screw driver. The drawer rides on hardwood rails (red-oak) so dealing with cumbersome drawer slides is not an option. The internal parts of the drawer are made of 7/8" pecan hardwood with a solid red oak front. Internal dimensions of the drawer are: 10" wide by 13 3/4" by 2 1/8".

Overall the table top is 17 1/4" square and over height is 23". The four legs are personally turned on the lathe and are also solid red oak. There is no hardware in this table and contain very few screws - it is held together mainly with glued inserts and dial rods (a truer form of furniture building). The hardwood is finished with tung oil and satin polyurethane for a natural look. No heavy staining this time. I thank you for your time.
