This lovely button was very likely worn on a cape or coat around the turn of the century. A transparent faceted/molded green celluloid jewel is set in the center of a lovely antique brass setting with a fancy surround. The center looks smoky green to me when held in the light, but reads black otherwise. The scan looks more brown, probably because of the scanner light; the scratches in the photo do not show in real life. There is some discoloration of the circles, but I'm sure they would clean up if that's the look you want. Perhaps they held rhinestones at one time? The button is nice and big at 1 1/2" in diameter. The back is metal and there is no rust or discoloration..

This button is a stand alone piece. It would work well on a cape, as a clasp on a bag, in a piece of jewelry, or something creative of your own design.

I recently purchased new button stock, and have a nice selection of great vintage buttons in many materials. Please let me know if you are looking for a particular color or style. I might be able to help!

I sometimes use recycled shipping materials in good condition. (Your nicely packed buttons are my first priority.) Let me know if this is a problem for you.
