This is a really fine desk (or beautiful small dinette) I made from a bit of surplus Pennsylvania walnut. We are constantly involved in the construction of walnut island tops and countertops in my full time business, Scott Cassin's Custom Countertops. Shorter planks like these these are part of every load of walnut I buy but are not generally used in countertop construction so we use them to make these superb tables & desks. Our surplus walnut makes for great looking furniture and can be offered at a very reasonable cost given how costly walnut is in general. Walnut is by far the most expensive domestic hardwood at this point.

This table/desk measures 64" long by 25" deep by 29.5" high. The top is solid 1.5" thick walnut, this is no cheesy veneer. The legs are nice heavy 3 rod hairpins from I think they look great painted balck as shown but they also can be left in their natural steel color, your choice. If you intend to use as a desk the legs should be left in the far corers as shown, if you'd like to use as a dinette we will push the legs inward about 8 inches from each end which will then allow comfortable seating for 4.

The wood top is treated with Howard's Feed & Wax, my preferred choice on walnut for a rich dark color and superb spill protection. The treatment will last for months and takes only about 60 seconds to reapply. Any butcher block treatment you see at your local hardware or grocery store will work fine, simply wipe on a bit of treatment anytime to wood looks or feels dry.

For this listing the photos show the actual item for sale. It is ready to ship upon purchase. UPS ground shipping is $125 to anywhere in the 48 states. The legs will be removed for shipping and go back on with just a Phillips screwdriver.

We have tons of walnut in stock so if you like this item but need a different size please contact me for a quote.

I am a professional woodworker specializing in high end wood countertops and kitchen islands. My business, Scott Cassin's Custom Countertops, serves clients in the Boston area, all of Connecticut and in NYC. The items I make and sell here on etsy feature smaller pieces of material left over from my "day job".

I really enjoy the change of pace that crafting these smaller, hipper, funkier items brings to my work.

I welcome custom orders from etsy shoppers... if you see one of my listings that you'd like to purchase but need to modify, re-size etc please feel free to convo me through etsy or give me a call to discuss. My cell phone is 860-218-3010.
