Mabon is the second harvest festival on the Wheel of the Year. In days of old, the belief was the spirit of the corn lived within the crop. Once harvested, the corn would be homeless so a Corn Mother or corn dolly would be fashioned from the last of the harvest, brought into the home where it would live throughout the winter. Come spring, the dolly would be ploughed into the first furrow, returning to the earth.

The Corn Mother of this Mabon Altar Tile was "fashioned" from an ear of Indian corn and further decorated with the beautiful colors of autumn. The design was set in pyrography then painted with watercolors. A light stain was applied and the entire piece was coated with a protective coat of high gloss polycrylic to prevent yellowing. Mabon and the date were pyrographed on the back. A display easel and sampler of Autumn Blend oil is also included. The tile can also be purchased without color as shown in the last photo
