It is recommended that you wash your turban (once, or multiple times) depending on amount of starch present in fabric, before first use. Key point is to make fabric soft before use. “More the fabric is soft; more it’s easy in Tying”.
You may follow these steps as a general guide:
1. Wash Turban Separately- wash it by itself, not with other clothes (hand wash preferred)
2. Use Light Detergent- recommended fabric softener
3. Do not use Bleach
4. Dry in Shade

High quality Sikhi Kachere at a great price. They even give you a discount if you order 5 or more I think. Totally worth it. Long lasting, durable, soft, fit well. I buy the largest size they offer simply because I workout a lot and the loose fitting allows for tough exercise like distance running and heavy weight lifting such as squats etc.
