ORiGINALLY $7.99 This 98-year-old celluloid pinback button measures approx. 7/8" and is in relatively good condition – complete with its original Baltimore Badge and Novelty Co. paper backing. There is a design patent noted on the back of the button that was awarded to Baltimore Badge & Novelty on 10/1/01. I will include a copy of that patent with the auction at no additional cost.

Borrowed from Teddy Roosevelt’s presidential campaign, “Stand Pat” was the slogan from a 1904 campaign for Pierre to become the permanent state capital of South Dakota. A huge amount of money was spent on the campaigns for the capital as the cities of Mitchell and Pierre fought it out. Pierre won, and the legislation for the Capitol went through in 1905.
