vintage gardening book The Garden for Expert and Amateur subltitled with contributions by the leading gardening experts and specialists of our time.

Not dated but I estimate the late 1920s. The contributors include Gertrude Jekyll who died in her late eighties in the early thirties and one William Good described as an author, he had gardening books published in 1913 and 1922.

Set out in alphabetical format, many plants are covered, garden geology, plant physiology....

1238 pages, not profusely illustrated but blessed with four colour illustrations by the well known formal garden painter George S. Elgood and eight black and white plates.

The spine in particular is rather faded with splits to the cloth at the top. There is a pale mark to the front cover. 6.x 8.5 inches or 150 x 220mm. Unfortunately all the pages make it rather heavy and so expensive to post.
