This multi level mento mori theme shadow box cabinet represents three versions of how we inter our dead. The top section shows a cemetery scene with a miniature coffin waiting to be buried. There is a freshly dug patch of dirt surrounded by moss and two tombstones. The background is a church graveyard scene. The middle section represents a mausoleum. There is a hand painted skeleton leaning against a column with a skull on top and some moss attached. There is also a tombstone with a raven sitting on it. The background is a stone wall with crumbling plaster and some gauzy black fabric. The final section represents catacombs with a mix of bones "burried" underground stacked on one another. The cabinet has been stained black and lightly distressed. The sides have been decoupaged with images of cemeteries and quotes from Robert Blair's "The Grave" and one from Plato. There is a sawtooth hanger on back of this cabinet shadowbox for easy hanging or it can stand on it's own. This macabre piece of art reminds you to live for today while unabashedly celebrating the beauty in all stages of life.

Approximate Dimensions: 14"T x 31/2"D x 7 1/2"W (at widest point)

Quotes:
Must not all things at the last be swallowed up in death - Plato

Wild shrieks have issued from the hollow tomb / Dead men have come again, and walked about; / And the great bell has tolled, unsung and untouched - Robert Blair

In journeying thru' life; -the task be mine, / to paint the gloomy horrors of the tomb; / Th' appointed place of rendevzvous, when all / These travellers meet. - Robert Blair
