Polaroid SX-70 Land Camera, Vintage Polaroid Camera, SX-70 Model 2, Vintage Polaroid SX-70 Camera, Photography, Travel

Here it is, the classic Polaroid SX-70! This camera was popular in the 1970s and retains a cult following today. Eminent photographers such as Ansel Adams, Andy Warhol, Helmut Newton, and Walker Evans praised and used the SX-70. This particular camera is in good untested vintage condition. I have no reason to think that this camera won't work once film is put in (which also contains the battery), but cannot guarantee it.

The brown vinyl ("Porvair") covering is in decent shape, with some scratches and the most obvious flaw being the large light square patch where the darker layer has been lifted (see photos). It's in a lot better condition than most I've seen though...and they do make new "skins" for these. The ecru colored plastic body is also in good vintage condition, the one biggest flaw being where a previous owner engraved her name and phone number along the side of the camera body (again, see photos). The bellows appear to be in excellent condition, as does the rest of the camera. Again, this camera is NOT TESTED and is being sold as-is.

Newly produced Polaroid film can be found at the-impossible-project.com.

About the Polaroid SX-70:

The SX-70 is a folding single lens reflex Land camera which was produced by the Polaroid Corporation from 1972-1981, model 2 being produced from 1974-1977. The Polaroid SX-70 camera is an extremely popular instant camera. It is considered by many to be the best camera that Polaroid ever produced, as it is a true SLR (Single lens reflex) camera with a 4-element glass lens and "through the lens" viewing, which means "what you see is what you get". It has a very unique folding design which allows the camera to be very compact when not in use. The camera has a completely automatic exposure system with a manual override control allowing the user to "lighten" or "darken" the image for special lighting situations such as a backlit subject. The Model 2 was otherwise very similar to the original SX-70, except for the fact that it had the improvement of a split-prism rangefinder added to the focus screen, which made manual focusing much easier.
