This is a handsome brooch. It reminds me of the Celtic brooches in many ways, but this brooch is done in a gold tone metal, and has filigree work between the saw tooth bezel setting of the over 3/4" diameter topaz rhinestone and the solid round perimeter of the piece. Photo #5 shows back side of stone setting vs. standard US penny which is 3/4" in diameter. The filigree work is done at an angle upward, to create depth in the piece by doming it. The diameter of the pin is 1 7/16" across; almost 1 1/2". The "topaz" is in an open back setting, and you can see in the photos that the background on which it is pinned has a big impact on it's range of color. No makers marks.
