1930s French Tin or Canister

This round tin from Elesca used to hold 1kg of powdered milk.

I believe this dates from the 1930s and a series were produced with a different ingredient on the front so that, when empty, it could be used as a storage canister. This one has the word 'Farine' on the front which is french for 'flour'.

Delightful graphics. A little boy with his satchel and dog on the front holding a plaque with the word 'farine' and, on the other side, a little girl holding a plaque with the letters 'L.S.K. C.S.Ki'
This is a little 'play on words' as the 'L.S.K.' would be pronounce 'Elesca' the tradename, in French but I can't work out the 'C.S.Ki'

There is a green band around the bottom with illustrations of lots of different children's toys and the address in Paris. The lid features the name 'Elesca' with details about the product and the remains of the paper seal can still be seen around the rim.

The colours are cream, green and black and this would sit well in both rustic, country or loft settings.

There is a lot of discolouration, scratches, a couple of dings on the lid and some rust. You might not want to put your flour inside without some sort of liner but, as a d├ęcor object it is interesting and unusual. Please zoom in on the photographs for a good idea of the vintage condition - this is from the 1930s and has had a life!

It measures 7 inches high, 4 inches in diameter and has a circumference of 13.5 inches.

Thank you for looking.
