Circa 1939 WWII

I nearly fell over when I found this coat too. Late 30s before the war, kept in fantastic condition, with nearly no wear. During the war, you could not have more than 2 pockets on a coat or any quilting details due to the restrictions on clothing, so the coat is Pre WWII but used during the war.

Bakelite black carved buttons down a sort of asymmetrical line provide its closure. An attached sash belt from the sides to the front. It comes with an additional belt and buckle that you can add. Large kangaroo pockets which came into fashion in winter 1939 and stayed throughout the war. Kangaroo pockets were designed for when bombing started a mother could grab items quickly and pop them into her pockets while getting the children to the shelter, during night bombing raids. Schiaparelli added this to her falll line in 1939. Darting for shape. This is just in such fantastic shape. The fabric is a boucle, nubbed wool blend from what I can guess. Layered it would be cozy! My mannequin is a 0/2 this fits but is just a tad too big. Size 4 to 6 recommended. Please remember its an overcoat so the sizes are not for a 38 bust but rather a 34 or 36. This is a heavy coat.

*Vintage coats are like the women who wear them, one of a kind & very unique*
