This enchanting book was created with medieval times in mind and it's easy to imagine the great wizard Merlin holding this tome in his hands. The removable handmade animal bell chimes softly as the book is handled, creating a magical sound with each movement.

I created the cover of this journal using sturdy book board with multiple layers of paints, as well as metallic and distress inks over several layers of cheesecloth, producing a wonderful texture to the hand. This is a 7-signature book of 728 pages hand sewn into the spine using a 5-hole pamphlet stitch of hemp twine. I've added 4 metal book corners to protect them from wear and damage.

Inside you'll find tea and coffee oven baked papers, lending a 'crinkly' feel and sound, some stenciled with botanical images. Included within the journal you'll also find two vintage papyrus envelopes and 13 'aged' journaling cards created from file folders for extra writing space.

The expandable closure is made from jute cord, allowing all the space you need to secure your journal as it grows, keeping your treasures safely inside.

Also included are four bookmarks; two are burlap, one is made of vintage fabric, and the final bookmark is made of hemp twine and wooden beads.

This journal is extra large and the size of this book and its many pages offer ample room for all your writings and keepsakes, and looks beautiful displayed on a table or bookcase.

As I was creating this book my imagination carried me to Camelot and the time of King Arthur, of magicians and their magic, witches and their spells, druids, sages and dragons.

It was an absolute joy to make and a delight to my senses with the sound of the bell, the slight coffee scent, the crinkly feel of the pages and the texture of the cover. This truly is a magical book and my wish is that the holder of this journal finds as much pleasure writing in it as I did creating it.
