*vintage 1970s upscale bohemian dress by designer Pauline Trigere

Pauline Trigère (1908/9 – 2002) was born in Paris and immigrated to the US in 1937. Trigère was a master cutter; she worked directly on a live model. Her garments were known for sophisticated and structured tailoring. Over her long career, which spanned from the 1940s to the 2000s, Trigère’s business remained relatively small, with Trigère herself doing the designing and running the business with the help of her brother and son. To see Trigère’s work in action, watch the movie, Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Trigère dresses the character played by Patricia Neal.

*stand up collar and wrist length sleeves that have a slight bell shape toward the bottom

*there is a fabric inset at the waistline that is just in the center to give shaping to your curves, it is lightly gathered above and below the inset

*the skirt flows out gently as it goes down the body, is has a deep hem that has been shortened at some time in its life..you could let it back down it you wished

*the dress fastens with a center back nylon zipper that is hand set, topped off with a hook & thread fastener

*semi-sheer fabric in shades of brown, melon orange, olive green, purple and creamy ivory, amid the overall pattern are round sheer circles, the entire dress is lined in a paper thin greenish brown semi-sheer fabric

*fabric feels like a tissue thin silk taffeta, lining is probably silk chiffon, dry clean only

*label:Pauline Trigere

The dress is in excellent condition. The only issues to note are a few scattered tiny pulls to the fabric & a small stain on the lining fabric at the upper bodice, it can't be seen on the outside. I recommend that you dry clean the dress before wearing as it has been stored for 40+ years however, it presents as fresh and clean.

*Size* fits like a medium to large
Measurements are:
total length:39"
shoulder to shoulder:14 1/2"
sleeve length:21"

I recommend that you measure an actual garment that fits you well and compare the measurements for the best fit.
Remember that the measurements measure the garment, not the person wearing it, leave 1-2" of ease for the proper fit.
