Antique rare primitive Maine Ship Building Cast Steel Auger Drill Bit. This drill bit cuts a 1" hole. Found on the coast barn in Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
Size:
16" length
handle is 14" length, very clean and ready to use.

A bit like this was used to do post & beam buildings, or ship building. The long wooden handle is all solid hard wood. Excellent condition commensurate with normal age wear and use being a primitive piece, very solid not loose, no bends, holes at all. This is not New.

This tool has been lightly cleaned, and coated with linseed oil to prevent rust. This Auger may still be used today.
Very scarce to find nowadays in this condition and rare to find.
