This is a italian art pottery vintage 50s pink chanticleer rooster planter or candy dish. It has a mid century modern look to him and it has a textured stucco feel to it. The rooster is done in pink with the gold gilt trim. The planter also has the black outline with accent of white. The rooster has the gold gilt comb, beak and wattle. The decoration on the front of the planter looks like a loving cup with plants in it. It also has what looks like branches and leaves on the sides. His tail feathers are also done in the gold, pink, black and white. There is a nice deep well to be used as a planter. I personally would use it as a candy dish. The bottom of the planter reads 6113 Italy. The planter measures....

8" at its widest (from the tip of his tail to his chest
7.75" tall (from the top of his comb to the bottom of the planter)
5" across the opening (from the tip of the side to the tip of the other side)

He is in fantastic vintage condition. There is no chips or cracks. The only item to note is some gilt loss on the top of his comb and the tip of his beak. He is beautiful and a real must have for the chanticleer rooster collector or your mid century modern home.
