These porcelain cups are some of my recent favorites- simple small 3x2 cups which vary slightly in size and shape- to use for ramekins, teacups, prep bowls, desserts (I think their 1/2 c size is perfect for gelato!). I threw them on the wheel, trimmed them, then after bisque firing, drew freeform zinnias in cobalt blue over their surface- some on the inside, some on the outside, some even on the bottoms of the cups! The flowers flow slightly, moving down the surface of the cup in a manner that references my favorite antique blue and white transferware china. AThey are coated in a clear glossy food-safe glaze and high-fired for durability.

The zinnias, my favorite carefree summer flowers, are inspired by the watercolor zinnia studies by Mississippi Gulf Coast artist Walter Inglis Anderson, one of my creative heroes!
