Discover the amazing properties of wool! Truly the most natural way to cloth diaper your baby!

Benefits:

Wool has the ability to regulate body temperature. The coil-shaped fibers of wool naturally wick excess moisture and heat from your skin, creating an optimal temperature zone. This makes wool perfect for a hot summer's day or a chilly winter night.

Wool can absorb 30% of its weight in liquid without feeling wet. This means that even when your baby has a wet diaper, your wool cover will still feel dry to the touch. Not unless your diaper is particularly soaked will you need to change her wool cover. And because it dries quickly, you can air out your wool for a short time and reuse it.

Care:

Wool is naturally antibacterial, so it doesn't hold in odors and does not need to be washed after each use.

Washing is super easy, only needed every 2-3 weeks or when soiled. Many strictly use Eucalan since it contains lanolin, but for max waterproofing a good lanolin wash is recommended.

A great website with a step by step tutorial on washing and lanolizing your wool cover: http://www.littlefornow.com/how-to-lanolize-a-wool-diaper-cover.html

Tidbits:

Each wool fabric differs in thickness, elasticity, or tightness of the stitch. I find lambswool that is as soft as cashmere and others that is scratchy like suit coats. Same goes for Merino or fabric labeled simply 100% wool. I pass up any wool that I feel would be too scratchy for delicate baby skin regardless of its label. I also sew according to each individual fabric. I put in an extra layer when needed and use only one layer when it obviously doesn't need another.

All covers have serged seams. This is ideal when sewing knitted wool fabrics as a standard stitch on regular sewing machine will easily unravel with wear. I also typically double serge to insure a nice tight hold.

Your package will arrive in reusable biodegradable poly mailer. These are great, sold from the Etsy shop EcoEnclose. Don't throw away the mailer after you get it; save it and reuse it! Hey it's a free mailer for yourself! Inside your soaker will be raffia tied with a care instructions card including how to lanolize. If your sending it as a gift, let me know and I can wrap it up in tissue paper if you'd like. You will also find your invoice printed on 100% recycled paper, don't forget to recycle that too! Small steps can lead to big changes! ;)

All my soakers are made in a smoke free, kitty friendly home.
