Offering an outstanding estate discovery. A set of 20 bound leather books of The Collected Works of Thomas Carlyle. Decorated & gilt leather spines, marbelized edge papers on all three sides, unusual golden marbelized board covers, leather corners, and golden marbelized end papers.

Published during 1885. Books have tight spines, leather spines and corners, & are all matching. Published Estes & Lauriat, Boston. Sterling Edition.

The leather pieces are lightly scuffed, the edges and corners of the covers are worn, some light discoloration to the interior, and there is very pale minor foxing on some of the first title pages. 99% of the pages are clean. Overall the set is very strong. Smells fresh. Set weighs nearly 36 pounds.

Measures 8 5/8 inches x 6 inches x 1 1/2 inches.

Considered to be one of the most prominent families in Marylands history, reaching back to Colonial times, the Ridgely family was one of the most successful and wealthy in the towns history.
