10 Vintage Pineapple or fancy Clubs (as in a deck of cards) 2 hole beads just off their original red threads. These are signed with an S and a backwards lower case c on the back. In fact the backs are just as beautiful as the fronts, which is great if you are going to be making jewelry with these. The beads are 13mm long and 10 mm wide. They are faceted. They are extremely well made and sturdy as well as being drop dead gorgeous.

I very seldom find signed glass beads among the French jet glass that I collect, unless they are French. The French beads are often signed Depose, pronounced depo-szay with the emphasis on the last syllable. Depose is not a manufacturers name but indicated something similar to a patented design. I know these are French because I found some other beads with the same signature and the Depose mark in my collection. These were probably made in the 1880s.

These beads were used by Parisian dressmakers to make beaded mourning dresses for the English court. French Jet was the black glass substitute for the expensive and extremely fragile Whitby Jet.

These are fantastic for decoration and embroidery, and I've also enjoyed them as beads. They make great earrings and necklaces. I would not use this particular bead as a bracelet, but it will make gorgeous earrings and necklaces. Please don't be put off by the two holes; they are easy to use.

Thank you so much for visiting and Happy Beading!
