It's so hard to find an original matching set....and this is a very pretty, dainty set with lovely old detailing....(please note that the orange reflections were from my umbrella....and any dark areas are reflections of my camera!)

Crafted of solid 18K white gold, both the engagement ring and diamond ring are set with diamonds. The engagement ring has an early brilliant cut diamond....it appears to perhaps be an old transitional cut with a slightly elevated table and closed culet. It's extremely fiery and brilliant and measures approximately 3.3 mm and so is estimated to be approximately .15 to .18 carats. I would judge the color to be in the H-I range of near-colorless and it is completely eye-clean. It came to me very filthy and I am still working to clean away all the grime...I do see one tiny chip near one prong, that could be virtually covered by that prong when retipped. Otherwise, the diamond is in very good condition. (the four prongs do show wear and should be retipped - the one by the tiny chip is the most worn of all)

The diamond is set into a pretty 5 x 5 mm square setting, set on the diagonal with pretty pierced work and milgrain detailing. Pierced filigree work extends across the face, shoulders and the undergallery with pretty foliate and scroll type designs and lots more milgrain work. Overall, the filigree is still in fairly good condition, but I do see some general wear and an old repair at the floral design on one side of the ring below the setting. (it can only be seen under magnification) The most wear seems to be on the shoulders and the band....

The face measures approximately 9 x 14 mm and the rise off the finger is approximately 5 mm.

There is still pretty carving and milgrain work extending down the sides of the band, though the very back has a polished area of gold that is meant to be there in case sizing is needed. The carving resembles tulips to me ...though I suspect it was originally orange blossoms or forget-me-not's to match the wedding band....it's quite pretty! The inside of the band is still marked "18K" and has a stylized "S" maker's mark that matches the mark inside the wedding band. The engagement ring alone weighs a total of 2.45 grams, and the total of the set is 3.80 grams.

The engagement ring is a size 5 and could be sized within reason by a good jeweler who is experienced with older jewelry. ( ** Please read my policies page for more information regarding sizing or feel free to convo me to discuss it or to obtain a quote from my trusted jeweler. I'm also happy to help locate a recommended jeweler in your area!)

The matching wedding band is slender at approximately 2 mm wide. The front of the band is set with five small, sparkly old chunky cut diamonds...they are nice old single cut stones with high tables and open culets...definitely all original to the ring. They are each approximately 1 to 1.2 mm, so they are very small....and they have pretty linear and milgrain detailing between each diamond. The rest of the band is encircled with carved old flowers within the same linear and milgrain work....they are probably orange blossoms or forget-me-not's which were used symbolically in bridal jewelry of the time. The flowers show wear, but are definitely still visible!

The inside of the band is marked the same way as the engagement ring - with "18K" and the stylized "S." Other than the overall softening to the floral design, the band is still in very sturdy condition, though touching up the diamonds settings would be a good idea, to be sure to keep these old stones safe for many more years...

The band is a size just over a 5 on my mandrell, but fits my finger the same way the engagement ring does. They look great together as they were originally intended! (I found I could wear them as shown in the photos, with the band sort of tucked up against the engagement ring, or with a bit of space between them...it may also depend on how tightly they fit your finger.) The wedding band could not be sized without interrupting the floral design....it could be sized a bit if you don't mind having a small polished area at the very back of the band....

This is a very sweet old set with history....waiting for a new couple to fall in love with them....

Please convo with questions and Thanks for looking!
