This ginger beer bottle was found in the earth around the foundation of a late 1800's barn. The gentleman (now in his 70's) I got it from said that when his children were little he would take them across the street to the area where there used to be a barn and let them dig around.

It is marked with Robinson-Merrill Co., Akron, Ohio, who were in business from 1900 - 1902. In 1902 they became the Robinson Clay Products Co.

It measures 7" tall and the base is 2 3/4". It is heavy stoneware.

The label on the front is a diamond shape with an A in the middle and the words Double Brewed Ginger Beer. It mirrors a Diamond A NY 129 Syracuse label but is stamped Akron, Ohio. I could not find this label on any of the Robinson-Merrill ginger beer bottles made at the time in Ohio. It may be rare.

There are cracks and chips on both sides and the bottom. It would be a cute vase for dried or silk flowers. I tried water and some real black-eyed susans and it leaked! It is 115 years old!
