ON SALE FROM 40€ to 20€!!!

This beautiful and amazing camera is an original 1932-1934 Agfa Box 44 Camera, with it's original leather case. The camera is famous for the marketing campaign in which it was advertised as "The Camera for Everybody". In that time, the cheapest camera was 10 Deutsche Marks, but Agfa chose to promote their camera for 4 DM, which was at only a 40 cent profit for their dealers. The camera was incredibly popular and the company, which went on to later make many more box cameras over the next 50 years, made all it's profits back in film sold. The camera was marketed as the "Preis-Box", also known as "Pramenbox-Camera".

The Box 44 Camera was made between 1932 - 1936, but this particular camera can be traced to 1932-1934 because of the "Y-Style" clip that fastens the back. Later models (after 1934) were made with a square clip.

What makes this particular camera so special is what it did for German photography. At the time, post WWI and during the Depression, the camera, at such a low price-point, was able to spread photography across the country, earning it the name "The Camera for Everybody". Few remaining models of the camera can be found worldwide, and this is the first I've seen with it's original case.

The camera is in good condition, the lens, which is set back slightly from the front of the camera seems to be in good working order, and inside the camera is quite clean. The only note is that the leather strap for the top of the camera (see the original advertisement drawing, last photo) is missing. The case, which is the original, is in great condition, the clasp is still functioning and the strap, although very worn, is still in tact. The case is real leather.

This camera would make an exceptional home decoration or wedding prop, or for the vintage camera collector it would be an amazing addition to any collection.

Please Note: Vintage items are vintage for a reason, they've seen a little bit of wear and tear in the last few decades and they've been well-loved along the way. Every piece has a unique story.
