Hard to find antique Bradley and Hubbard brass extending rod book ends or book keeper. This antique rack was created in the early 1920s to honor two popular English authors. One side reads, "Reading Maketh A Full Man, Writing An Exact man, histories Make Men Wise, Poets Witty"--Bacon. The other side reads," Books That You May Carry To The Fire And Hold Readily In Your Hand Are The Most Useful After All"--Johnsoniana. Each side of this bookend is attached to three sliding rods which enable the ends to slide out to hold more books. Each side of this bookend folds down for storage or to transport.
Closed size is 13.5 inches long x 7 inches high x 6 inches wide. Opened fully size is 25.5 inches long. In good vintage condition with no dents or dings.

Thanks for looking and be sure to check out my other antique items! :-)
