Laura Wheeler mail order pattern # 769
Undated, from the 1950s.
Ships for free in the US.

Sizing note: The envelope is marked a size medium, but there are no measurements given. Based on other Laura Wheeler patterns of this era, a medium should be a size 14-16, which would be a bust 32-34. However, holding this up to myself, it looks quite a bit bigger than this. The measurement across the front piece from the point of the V-neck to the top of the upper dart (between seam lines, so this should be the finished size) is 10”, so that would be 20” across there. From the underarm point to the center of the piece is 8.75”, so that would be 17.5” across there. I feel pretty comfortable estimating this will probably fit a bust 35-36”, up to a C cup, maybe a D, but this is just an estimate. The double darts do seem to allow for a larger cup size. The bottom edge of the front piece measures 7.5” between seam lines, or 15” across the front when it’s sewn, but since this top wraps and ties, the waist will be adjustable.

This pattern is for a bias cut wrap-and-tie halter top, a la Marilyn Monroe, with a V-neck and button closure at the back neck. It comes with an unused rose applique for embroidering on the bodice, as illustrated. There are only 3 pieces in this pattern. Details are as shown - convo me if you have any questions.

Printed pieces.
The front piece is cut. The other pieces are uncut.
The embroidery transfer is unstamped and unused.
Complete with instructions.
This pattern comes in a Laura Wheeler mailing envelope with the original mail order ad taped to the front.
Note: the envelope is labeled for pattern 732 which I have for sale separately, but the illustration taped to it is for this pattern. The original owner reversed the envelopes when she taped the pictures to them, but you will receive the pattern illustrated (769), not the number written on the mailing label (732). Both envelopes are labeled size medium.

Want more, but need to narrow the field? Here’s a hint: from my store’s front page, you can search my shop by bust size, era, style, brand, or any combination; for instance, "Vogue 1950s bust 36 dress," "1940s blouse," "Bust 32," etc. You can also use the search term “easy” to find simple to make patterns, or “uncut” for patterns that have never been used. I carefully keyword every listing so your search will return all relevant listings.
