Earlier this spring, I featured a line of pearl strands that I called “prologue pearls” – simple strand of hand knotted pearls, with a small length of sterling chain for adjustment, with a dangling bead at the end. The pearls could be worn alone, or could be attached with one of my individually sold “poetry pendants”, long lengths of antique piano key ivory, with antique poetry word snippets under mica. This is the same concept, but I’m selling the pendant and the prologue pearls together in this case; the colors were intended to be used together, and I didn’t want to separate them individually. The pearls are a lovely deep olive green, the color of the deepest forest of summer, or moss that lives on through winter; I’ve hand knotted them along with a lovely chunky faceted green amethyst nugget and a couple of faceted labradorite rondelles. At the end of the sterling chain, which allows for adjustment in length, dangles another long amethyst. The pendant of ivory, mica, antique poetry, sterling wire, and a wonderful pale green faceted prehnite drop, can be added to the silverplate watch fob clasp after the clasp has hooked to the chain. This way, the pearls can be worn on their own, if desired, or with another of my pendants (more coming soon, I promise). The words are taken from a teeny, tiny antique book of john Campbell Scottish poetry that was absolutely falling apart; I’ve held onto it for years and years, maybe 15, and thought it was time that the words be put to use. The words? “shine on her chosen green resort, whose flowers court an angel’s feet to tread them down.”… I’ve backed the ivory onto aged brass for added strength.
Total length of pearl and chain strand is 23”, but can be shortened to 21”.
