Exquisite 1950s or early 1960s cocktail dress by vintage designer Syd Rappaport “Rappi” featuring a fitted cocktail dress & blazer jacket set in black silk and ivory sequins offered by DaisyAndStella!

The sleeveless fitted & seamed bodice is to-die-for entirely covered in ivory sequins that that ‘pop’ when they catch the light styled with a wide enhanced portrait neckline that plunges into a deep V in the back! The bodice is fully lined with an additional layer of ivory silk separate from the layer the sequins are attached to. From the nipped seamed waistline extends the lightly side gathered black silk wiggle skirt that is lined with thin sheer nylon. Dress closes with a hidden back metal zipper and top eye/hook and is labeled “Rappi” as well as a Union label that dates this dress between 1955-1963.

The cropped black silk blazer jacket is the perfect addition for those chilly nights styled with a small notched winged collar, open bodice, ¾ length sleeves and silky lining! Blazer is labeled “Bramson” with a list of locations.

Condition: Excellent! The sequins don’t all lay flat, but I think this is the original design intent.

About the designer (As found by Couture Allure Blogspot): "Rappi was actually a talented Viennese-born woman named Syd Rappaport, who made a name for herself with glamourous formal wear which was much beloved by debutantes with a particular eye for style. Although there was no business connection with Will Steinman, they were certainly among that small group of formalwear firms which controlled the higher-end of the business (other firms in that august group included Lee Claire, Ceil Chapman, Camco Evening Fashions, Malcolm Starr, and Modern Couture)."
