These are two very unique and rare wooden buttons from 1939. Both buttons are hand painted, and have a "1939" carved imprint at the bottom. The line of flags hanging from the top represent (as nearly as I can tell) some of the Allies during World War II. (United States, United Kingdom, Kingdom of the Netherlands). I am unsure which countries the other 2 flags represent.

I also learned, from a very helpful Etsian(!) that the elongated triangle and the circle with "1939" are actually known as the "trylon and perisphere" and are the most recognizable image or symbol of the 1939 World's Fair.

Both buttons are in excellent condition. No scratches or dings. The colors on one of the flags are slightly brighter than the other one, but it seems to be due to the actual hand painting done on them--not a fault (as you can see in photos 3 and 4).

Buttons measure ~ 3/4 inch in size.

Buttons come from my Grandmother's sewing collection, so they are absolutely the REAL deal!

Thanks for looking, and please convo me if you have any questions.
